During the years 2016 and 2017, different authors have reflected that the competitive situation of the Argentine textile and clothing sector is not good, finding deficiencies in terms of informality, productivity, human resources training, investments, financial access and small-scale productions. It is a sensitive fraction of the national industry, since it comprises 11% of the total employment of the same; consequently, the purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate that the creation of high social impact products (without being innovative), such as clothing (clothing and bedding) that repels mosquitoes, would improve the competitiveness of that sector. For this, an investigation was carried out, which covered the following relevant topics: ● The species of mosquitoes that spread the main diseases in Argentina and the World. ● The basic methods of prevention against mosquito bites, and the application of nanotechnology in textile fabrics, to ensure that they fulfill the function of repelling the aforementioned insects. ● The value chain of the textile and clothing sector in Argentina, with particular attention to production processes, economic reports, productivity and foreign trade. ● The research carried out by Michael Porter, Marshall and other authors on competitiveness theories was studied and then applied to the current situation of the aforementioned Sector. ● Finally, a simulation of a practical case was carried out, where the profitability of a company located in Argentina, which would export clothing and bedding that repel mosquitoes, was calculated. The thesis ends with the affirmation of the proposed hypothesis, stating that the manufacture and commercialization of textile cotton garments that repel mosquitoes would, in the future, improve the competitiveness of the textile and clothing sector of the country.en
