This research is positioned as a project of development and technology transfer from the need found in a company adjacent to the University of Lomas de Zamora leader in cathodic protection. The research problem born because of the difficulties involved in carrying out the basic engineering of a cathodic protection system, particularly in relation to budgeting, since usually the owners of the installations to be protected know all the technicians parameters, but do not have the data of resistivity and soil pH, which are eterminants for the design of the protection systems. Since resistivity plays a major role in the design of cathodic protection systems, it is necessary to obtain a reliable knowledge of this parameter, which will allow optimizing the main variables that define the efficiency of the system (costs, maintenance, useful life, etc.). For this reason and in order to contribute knowledge in this field, it is the problematic approach of this research that can be synthesized in the following research questions: Is there any relationship between the resistivity of the terrain and depth? If there is such a relationship, is there any regularity in it? Is there a relationship between resistivity and geographic location? Does the pH variation in the province of Buenos Aires affect the basic engineering design for the design of cathodic protection systems? These initial questions related to the research problem are those that led to the formulation of the working hypothesis: "The decision process on the installation of different cathodic protection systems is influenced by the resistivity of the terrain (electrical properties), its depth, pH (chemical properties) and its geographical location." With the main objective of modeling the spatial variability of the electrical and chemical properties of the soil at different depths to contribute to generate new tools that facilitate decision making in the cathodic protection area, reducing uncertainty in the processes of budgeting works. The province of Buenos Aires was established as an area for the development of the model of this research, as a first place to propose the measurements, because it is the zone of the country where practically all the ducts derive. The data surveyed were processed using the Ordinary Kriging technique, which proved to be very precise and useful for the development of this type of research. This method, together with the software Arcmap, allowed us to reach the proposed objective: "Modeling the spatial variability of the electrical and chemical properties of the soil at different depths to contribute to generate new tools that facilitate decision making in the cathodic protection, reducing uncertainty in the processes of budgeting works ". The decision process on the installation of different cathodic protection systems is influenced by the resistivity of the ground (electrical properties), its depth, pH (chemical properties) and Its geographic location, contributing to the cathodic protection heading, providing as a technology transfer product the provincial maps-letters with intellectual property patents, as a support tool for the design of cathodic protection systems in underground and / or submerged steel structures.en
